INTERNATIONAL DATA PRIVACY DAY
Data Privacy Day is an international event that occurs every year on 28th January. The intention on this day is to create awareness among people about the importance of data security and educating them to protect their data from digital threats.
About Seminar
The seminar encompasses some of the common security aspects like mobile security, social-networking, social engineering, internal threats, strong passwords, antivirus, software piracy, hacking, Ethical Hacking, CIA triad, etc.
Key Focus
Better Understanding = Better Security.
Before understanding what cyber security is, one should know some of the fundamentals like data, information, digital, security, safety, communication, network, vulnerability, threat, risk, hacker, etc. and its importance as well. Hence it would be easy and helpful for people to understand why and what cyber security is.
After a brief introduction about the fundamentals and relating them with security gave them confidence and a clear perspective about the need for security. Hence this approach of teaching made students engaging, thoughtful and attentive throughout the seminar.
Conclusion
From the beginning, with the extreme willingness and cooperation from the students in learning data security surprised me and kept energetic. It was a good two and a half hours session, which was sufficient to educate the audience on what is cyber security and why it is necessary.
